At NAB2006 Zaxcom will highlight its new TRX900 and TRX990 digital wireless microphone transceivers. These revolutionary systems are the industry's first wireless microphones to provide integrated audio recording, IFB receivers, and timecode transmission. This patent-pending feature set allows audio professionals to record up to six hours of audio directly to a Flash memory card and then transfer the .WAV files to either a PC or Macintosh for postproduction. Key features of the TRX900 and TRX990 include:
Integrated audio recording: This feature eliminates the need for transmission between a microphone and external recording device, ensuring that the audio quality rivals that of AES audio from hardwired systems and remains unaffected by RF or EMI interference. All types of timecode sync — including tri-level, NTSC, and PAL — are generated during recording.
Time code transmission: At NAB2006 Zaxcom will introduce timecode transmission, a brand-new feature for the digital wireless microphone system. This optional feature will allow the user to transmit two channels of audio and timecode to just one receiver on the camera. This eliminates the bulk and weight of having two separate receivers and a sync box for timecode and video sync. Because this system does not require manual jamming of the timecode into the camera, the TRX900 and TRX990 help reduce production time as well.
Built-in IFB: With integrated Interrupted Feedback (IFB) support, Zaxcom's digital wireless microphone system eliminates the need for talent to wear two separate body packs. The TRX900 features a built-in receiver that allows the user to receive cues and other information from the production staff. Combining transmission and receiving into a single body pack further simplifies production because the user will have to maintain and monitor only a single set of batteries.
RF remote control: This feature allows production staff to change the parameters of a microphone – such as mic gain, high-pass filter, or the selected channel — from up to 200 feet away. Integrated RF remote control provides audio professionals with an added measure of control over the output of their productions.
The TRX900 system is designed for use with a lavaliere microphone. Zaxcom's TRX990 is engineered as a complete solution to boom-pole-type transmitters and offers two audio channels with integrated phantom power. Additional information is available at www.theultimatewireless.com
