Los Angeles-based DUCK Studios is pleased to announce the addition of design and animation innovator Monkmus to their team. The award-winning filmmaker and illustrator brings a reputation for creating work with a whimsical flair, off-beat humor, and emotional resonance.
“We are thrilled to bring such a dynamic and creative talent like Monkmus into the fold,” said DUCK Executive Producer Mark Medernach. “His ability to create memorable, forward-thinking work in an incredible variety of genres makes him a perfect fit for us.”

Monkmus’ wide-ranging body of work includes the creation of gripping music videos for Death Cab for Cutie, Badly Drawn Boy, Los Campesinos, Mogwai and Kid Koala. His memorable commercial campaigns have included work for Sony PSP, Burger King, and Nike Air, to name a few. In addition, Monkmus has written, designed and directed short films for the Cartoon Network as well as the American kid classic Sesame Street.

The diversity, variety and level of Monkmus’ portfolio have warranted profiles in several prominent magazines, including Rolling Stone, Giant Robot, RES, Creativity and Promo. Monkmus’ campaigns have garnered numerous awards, including Best Music Video at the SXSW Film Festival and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

“I am so happy to join the DUCK team,” said Monkmus, a Maryland native who lives in Los Angeles. “The phenomenal quality of their work, combined with the opportunity to jump into an array of different projects, make DUCK the ideal creative platform.”
